St. Ruadhan studied at the monastic school in Clonard
(Cluain Ioraird) and became one of the twelve apostles of
Ireland. He was the founding Presbyterian Abbott
of the monastery in Lorrha where he directed 150 monks. The monastery became
one of the foremost in Munster. St. Ruadhan died in 584 and his hand was preserved in a silver shrine at Lorrha. The feast of St. Ruadhan is celebrated on 15th April on the (possible) anniversary of his death. A legend of St. Ruadhan involved the cursing of Tara.
